Ocean Navitas constructed it's own 10 meter wave tank testing facilities in mid 2007 to help identify the optimum hull and buoyancy tank design for the Aegir Dynamo, and to assess the effectiveness of the reactor plate design.
Scale models (designed using 3D modelling and fluid dynamics software) were created and tested against various simulated heights and periods.
The waves are created using 4 computer controlled paddles (seen at the back of the tank in Orange) that can be moved either together or independently at a desired speed to create differing wave profiles.
